Youth and Elders Gathering 2010 |

The Youth and Elders Gathering will be held in Waswanipi on March 23-25, 2010. The gathering’s purpose is to provide Elder participation to bridge the gap between youth and elders to form and build friendships, bonding and the passing of traditional knowledge, stories, values and traditions.
 The Gathering is an annual event organized jointly by the Cree Nation Youth Council and the Regional Council of Elders. The gathering is held in a cultural setting and includes Cree Elders and Youth from each community including Washaw Sibi.
Traditional activities and teachings are an essential part of the Gathering. During the event, traditional food is prepared for the participants and the whole process is taught by the elders. This year’s traditional activities will include:
- Moose hide preparation
- Ice fishing
- Winter dwelling preparation
- Moose Hunting etc.
