Cree Youth Symposium PDF Print E-mail
The CNYC is hosting a Cree Youth Symposium as part of its "Inspire Hope Campaign".  The purpose of the symposium is to gather over 200 young Crees from all communities of Eeyou Istchee to discuss issues and to inspire them to take action for a brighter future.

The Symposium will feature workshops for various topics including Education, Cree Culture & Arts, Health & Social Issues, and Economic & Business Development. 

Also featured at the Symposium is the Regioal Public Speaking contest which open to all youth between the ages of 13 to 35.  Each Cree community shall host local compeitions to select their candidate for the regional event.  The is topic broad in general but should be based on inspiring our young people.

We will also have the Youth Acheivement awards for the following categories:profile_image.jpg

  • Volunteerism
  • Business and Entreneurship
  • Personal Achievement
  • Parenting Award

Among prestigious speakers that will inspire our young people are Grand Chief Dr. Matthew Coon Come, the Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Shaun Atleo, and the renowned Chief Clarence Louie of the Osoyoos Indian community in British Columbia. Each day of the Symposium has a theme and 6 workshops will be presented covering these issues: Day 1: Education and Health, Day 2: Economics, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Day 3: Language, Environment, Tradition and Culture.
